What we can learn from a Projector in a major life transition

Nancy, (not her real name) worked part-time teaching meditation and yoga to teenagers. She had been invited to apply for her current position. A Projector’s strategy is to wait to be invited, the polarity they are asked to balance is success and bitterness. As a Projector, Nancy had sampled success in the career area of her life, yet in other areas of life, she felt resentful and bitter.

Completing her Uranus Opposition Life Cycle (40)

After hearing about Human Design from a friend, Nancy did a thorough research on the internet. She intuitively knew it could answer her quest to have a happier and more successful life. Following her intuition, she reached out to me for a consultation and continued support to face her challenges and make some changes. I recognized myself in Nancy’s challenges, do you?

  • She had physical health challenges that limited her activities like others in her age group. She was often self-critical and highly sensitive to her environment. These two symptoms often go hand-in-hand. We often feel there must be something wrong with us because others in the ‘normal world’ don’t seem to suffer or get overwhelmed as we do.
  • She had endured extreme loss and grief at an early age making it a hard time to relate with her peers. Between her circumstances, critical nature and perfectionist patterns she felt like alone and isolated. As a coping mechanism, she compromised her needs and beliefs to keep friends and potential partners that ultimately lead to more loss and grief.
  • For many years she had wanted to relocate from her crowded urban area to be around more trees and open space. But there was no invitation or opportunities to move. She felt stuck! When nature calls us it is also a call to trust. Trust in its timing, not ours.
  • Nancy had a deep desire to be healthy emotionally and spirituality. She knew she could benefit from someone to validate her natural gifts and talents and to guide her to play to her strengths.

“Start where you are. Do what you can. Use what you have.” ~ Author Ashe

Over the next 5 months, through her Human Design consultations, assigned reading about her Design, Gene Keys, and Venus Sequence her self-awareness increased. Demonstration of that awareness allowed her to:
Face her shadow with compassion * Forgive * Love & Accept herself deeply * Set healthy boundaries with her friends * Soften her critical nature * Find new perceptions and ways to satisfy her need to influence others (4th Line Profile) * Communicate with Confidence * Recognize and enhance her intuitive nature * Be more present, relaxed and calmer in her body * Release her unrealistic expectations quickly * Trust her decisions
In just a few short months Nancy received an invitation to work full time, for six months, teaching children meditation and yoga. This opportunity allowed her to live in a rural area surrounded by nature preserves. A new frequency unfolded for Nancy along with new friends and companions. After the six months, she was invited to relocated full time.
When we embrace and shed our shadow parts, much like a snake shedding its skin, something new emerges for us…perfectly. This newness contains risks, uncertainties, along with new decisions, in new places, with new people. We find ourselves on shaky ground. To navigate and integrate takes time, patience, support and using your psychic energy (full attention) to stabilize the new: essentially it will need your best TLC to gel and flourish.

What a great story. I tend to push against being a Projector because of my Aries/Leo desire to have what I want, NOW. But I know there are many graces to being a Projector and the times that I have been truly invited to do things were big, long lasting (years) and transformational. Reading an account of living the Projector type fully is very helpful.

Thank you, Eloise for your insights. I love your comment: “there are many graces to being a Projector.”
So true, for so many! Generally speaking, we as a culture are not design/raise/nurtured to trust life and wait. Like you, it takes a long time to make those changes within ourselves. I celebrate with you those times when you have waited… and had success and the correct people to ‘play’ with in life.
      Many Blessings,
      Nattalee

Since studying HD I have come to love love LOVE my Projector design! I never understood why I felt like I never fit in with groups—they made me uncomfortable and terribly confused. I am 5/1 Mental Projector, the Heretic Investigator. I tend to live in my mind. The mind, being so strong was supposed to be a strength, according to our mass culture. But I was swimming in mind-stuff all the time! Now I pace myself with it. HD has so many little clues that make living so much better! Waiting for the invitation is extremely difficult for me, but whenever I insert myself into situations, I always regret it! Hope to have a consult with you sometime, Nattalee. You were recommended to me.

Thank you, Andrea for stopping by and for sharing your insights. I’m DELIGHTED to hear you LOVE your DESIGN! To have/experience success as a Projector, it all starts right there, knowing and loving the waiting for the ‘correct’ people and places to show up for you. Not easy for sure. But at some point banging your head against the wall becomes a portal for surrendering to who we really are. 🙂 I know that is true for me as I have the bruises to prove it. That is how strong willed people learn…
As you may have noticed in the other post, a Projector who ‘knows’ the best of her life has come from waiting. I find 5/1 and Projector as a very dynamic combination. I feel the leadership potential in them to assist humanity to move to a higher consciousness. Glad to know you are on the team!
I am honored to support you.
      Love, light and oneness,
      Nattalee

Oh gosh, when you say you feel “the leadership potential of assisting humanity move to a higher consciousness…” I get a thrill! I never, ever, have run with the herd.
        Thank you!

Sweet (wink). You have the leadership imprint both with Profile and Type.
You get to define it how ever you like.

    I am also a 5/1 (MG)
I usually feel uncomfortable in groups ,too.
    Is it normal?

    • Nattalee K Lillico 2nd October 2015 at 1:11 pm - Reply

Thank you, Bernice. Being shy/uncomfortable in groups can happen with any Type or Profile. So much depends on our childhood conditioning, as well as conditioning in our Design, current age and experiences.
Speaking generally for a 5/1 Profile, they tend to hold back until they feel they have enough education, classes and experiences before they want to reach out to others. They can feel paranoid by people’s projects about who they think you are. 5/1 ‘s may not look at it that way, without understanding their Design. What is going on for them under the surface is a sense of insecurity or fear of not having or knowing enough to be more social.
Understand your Design helps build confidence by knowing which groups are in alignment for you. Than… maybe not so uncomfortable.

I’ve gotten so much out of just a little bit of research into human design, and yet – it also feels like I unlocked (as with every dive of research I do) a new mystery to solve.
As a 5/1 Projector – another Heretic Investigator here.. Left angle cross of Dominion. My head and Ajna are the only defined centers. Without an Inner Authority, experienced a very deep and profound consciousness in my earliest memories.. very lucid of everything around me, including things which cannot be seen. But as I grew into adolescence I struggled tremendously with my “self” and finding my place in society – I withdrew and became a hermit, studied and taught myself things, and investigated the deepest mysteries of life, science, and truth.. But now I have come to a new emergence of myself, finally stepping into what I may say feels to be, self responsibility, individuality and independence – focusing on self balance and health – pushing myself to engage with others and share my ideas and insights. It still is a process I am easing into.. It still feels like whatever whats to “come out” in my Voice is just too vast and intricate to word, to explain, to share with others.. I end up just being silent, I always felt “Why can’t we just be telepathic!” but the key is in how to creatively share the spirit/soul/mind/heart and it takes work, effort, but also stillness, ease.. grace.

Thank you, Grace … That may not be your name but that is what I felt reading your comments.
You hit it right on. Human Design is a HUGE portal of information and within each component is another portal.
I invite you to take it in bites. Knowing it and living it is two very different things.
The 5/1 Profile is a precarious balancing act between getting its insecurities satisfied (1st line) and delivering a practical message (5th line). Not easy. BUT, you have the awareness now, as you said = self-responsibility. The 6/2 Profile and give you great support.
Congratulations on your discovery and journey into Human Design.
      Warmly,
      Nattalee
